What to expect

Psychotherapy can help.

  • When you decide to contact me, we will first talk on the phone or via tele-health.  In this consultation, I would be interested to hear why you are thinking about therapy, and can answer any immediate questions you may have about me and about how we might work together.

If you feel that I might be a good match for you, we will set up a time and date for our first session.

I will also ask you to fill out the Services Agreement and an Information and History Form to bring to your first session.

Many people find that they can get a good sense of whether we will be a good fit from reading through my website or from talking with me on the phone/tele-health.

  • In our first session, we discuss what you are experiencing and how I may be of help. I will also explain about my office policies and confidentiality.

I will address any concerns or expectations that you may have about therapy and how we will work together.

  • You may have gone down a path in your life and come to find yourself struck in a rut without understanding why or how you got here. You may have tried to climb out of this rut, using the same expectations and ways of coping that you have used all your life.

Some of your old patterns may serve you well, and others may have led you to experience even more distress. You may have reached that place of hopelessness and helplessness when the hurt and pain can no longer be temporarily soothed, denied or avoided with your old ways.

In therapy, we will work to understand YOU and identify patterns that have led to your distress. I will help you to establish new patterns that can help you successfully navigate through your distress, and ultimately towards a happier and richer life.

Through this whole process, the relationship between you and your therapist is key.

My therapeutic space is one of safety and non-judgment. The time you spend with me in therapy will be about you.

Man cannot stand a meaningless life
